Sports Injury Rehabilitation
Sports rehabilitation should consider the injured area, mechanism of injury, strength, movement quality and the demands of the sport. Assessment provides a safer basis for progressing back to training and competition.

Common symptoms

- Swelling, stiffness or reduced movement
- Recurring pain with running, jumping, cutting or lifting
- Reduced confidence or sport performance
What we assess
- Injury mechanism and sport demands
- Movement, strength, balance and control
- Sport-specific testing when appropriate for the rehabilitation stage
- Screening for injuries that may require imaging or medical review
Rehabilitation approach
- Manage load and activity in the early stage
- Progress strength, balance and movement control
- Use manual therapy or modalities when appropriate
- Build sport-specific capacity and use return-to-sport criteria
Seek medical assessment or urgent care when red flags are present
- • Visible deformity or inability to bear weight after injury
- • Rapid large swelling or suspected fracture
- • Numbness, weakness or circulation changes in the limb
